My son is now sixteen and looking for a job. The first thing I told him to do was find jobs online. He searched through an online job finding service and found a few places in town to apply at. I told him that the computer is his best friend when applying for jobs, it really IS how to find a job. Most businesses don't even have paper applications anymore, they tell you to go to a website and apply. Thankfully we have internet service at home so he can apply at restaurants, stores and other businesses. He has applied for several jobs and is still searching diligently. Another thing I tell him is to be sure he is dressed well even when turning in an application at places that still take paper applications. The businesses will notice how he looks when he walks in, even just getting an application. Teaching him how to find a job is almost a job in itself. He had no idea how to find a job, or where to start, so it's a good thing I have experience in looking for jobs and having jobs. He now knows how to find a job, and is hoping to be hired soon.
