My sister called me a few days ago to tell me that she’d lost her job and asked if I knew where she could find jobs online. I asked her a few questions about what kind of work she was looking for and asked if she’d updated her resume since leaving this last job. She said that she’d only lost her job two days prior to her calling me and that she hadn’t even thought about updating her resume. I offered to help her if she’d come over and said that then I could help her find jobs online that she was qualified and that once we browsed and found the right place to find jobs online we could submit her resume. I felt sure that as soon as she submits her resume that it won’t take an employer long to hire her because she’s a hard worker. My brother stopped in a few days ago for a visit and to ask if I knew anything about how to find jobs online. Since I actually found my current occupation from a website online, I asked him a few questions and then asked if he had a resume. He said that he’d started a resume but that someone had told him that in order to find jobs online that he didn’t really need a resume. Honestly, I have to wonder where my brother gets some of this information, but rather than ask him that, I decided to show him a copy of my own resume and ask him if he’d like me to help him create one in order to help him find jobs online. He seemed very grateful that I was offering to help, and after sitting down and the computer and getting started, I could see why. Even though my brother had a college degree, when it came to writing a resume, he was lacking in skills. By the time we finished though, his resume was great and while we were both sitting in front of the computer, I showed him how to find jobs online and helped him register his resume. Now I just hope he hears something from someone soon.

The economy is getting better. It is clear how to find a job; a solid resume, picking a niche field, making a great first impression and staying consistent help land a paycheck at a new job. I was talking to a friend the other day who was telling me that it was pretty easy thanks to the Internet to find jobs online. She said that she remembers a time that the only way to find a job was to either pound the pavement in hopes of someone needing some help, or to read the classifieds in the local newspaper. I hate to date myself that way, but I’m also one who remembers those days, and remember when I first got out of college spending hours a day looking for jobs. The economy is pretty unstable right now, to say the least. I have had to get several part time jobs to be able to live the life style that I enjoy. I was able to find a career in the field I wanted and apply right then and there. I had gone through a medical assistant training. With the economy starting to climb back up slowly jobs are starting to open up. I am a college graduate and I have been working in a field that was not a major of mine. I have never really known what I wanted to do for a living. It seemed that everyone in high school was ready for real life and knew where they were heading. I was not so sure. Once I graduated I floated around and did not really know my way. I ended up in Los Angeles, California working in a night club.
